Dreamworks has finally come out with another Trolls movie, “Trolls Band Together,” with the first one coming out in 2016 and then later getting another one in 2020. These movies have been so good that not only have they gotten a holiday special, but they also have had a TV show. “Trolls Band Together” gives us some old and new characters that you are sure to love with Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake coming back as Poppy and Branch and new celebrities coming to the film like Camila Cabello as Viva and Amy Schumer as Velvet. So, does this new franchise installment live up to other movies before it?
The trailer for this movie was great. It didn’t spoil too much of the movie but did give us some big things to expect. In the trailer, you find out that Poppy has a sister and that Branch was in a band with his previously unknown brothers.
The movie starts off in the past Branch’s past. You see him with his brother, waiting to perform. They have a big fight after they mess up and break up the band. This really affects Branch, and you can see it in the first movie because his four brothers left him with their grandma and never came back.
After that, we see Brightet and King Grisel getting ready for their wedding. Brighet’s way of getting to the altar is very nice. She has a balloon dress and literally floats down the aisle. Then the balloon dress popped to show a very beautiful jumpsuit and roller skates only for someone to object, which happens to be Branch’s brother John Dory. Turns out one of their brothers has been captured and taken advantage of, so they go on a trip to get the other two Clay and Spruce.
This movie does have some adult jokes in it, like when they find Spruce. Then they find out he is married, and has kids he makes a joke about how they make it work, which is something that kids probably didn’t notice. They start to perform one of their songs, and oh man, the people can sing and the song is so good. The harmonizing is one of the best parts of it, and hearing Kendrick and Timberlake sing is just amazing.
The main villains are Velvet and Veer, two people who are using Flody Branch’s brother to get his voice to become famous. There is so much singing in this movie, which is one of the best parts of it. It lets the actors who play these characters show off their voices. There are great singers in this movie like Timberlake and Cabello, but to hear someone like Kendrick who we found out she could sing in the “Pitch Perfect” movies take it to another level is just amazing.
This movie has done so well that one of the songs has started to trend on TikTok. This definitely lives up to the other movies, and it might be the best one out of all of them. It is the most unhinged. There are some adult jokes hidden in the movie that kids will not notice until they are older. This is a funny movie with just amazing music and animation, and something that a kid and adult would enjoy watching.
