The NBA All-Star Weekend took place this weekend from Friday, Feb. 14, through Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Friday 14:
The Ruffle’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game was the first All-Star Weekend event. Two teams of celebrities were coached by San Francisco legends Jerry Rice and Barry Bonds. Team Bonds defeated Team Rice 66-55. Actor Rome Flynn from Team Bonds had 22 points and received the Most Valuable Player Award.
The Castrol Rising Stars tournament took place later that day. Four teams were coached by former NBA players Mitch Richmond (Team M), Tim Hardaway Sr. (Team T), Chris Mullin (Team C) and Jeremy Lin (Team G-League). Team C defeated Team T in the first semifinal 40-34. Team G-League defeated Team M 40-39 in the second semifinal game. Then Team C defeated Team G-League 25 -14 in the championship. San Antonio Spurs rookie Stephon Castle scored 12 points in the final and took home the Rising Stars MVP award.
Saturday 15:
The State Farm All-Star Saturday Night took place on the second night of All-Star Weekend.
The Kia Skills Challenge featured Team Spurs, Team Rooks, Team Cavs and Team Warriors. Team Cavs and Team Warriors advanced to the final. Team Cavs consisted of Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley, who finished the course in just over a minute defeating Draymond Green and Moses Moody of Team Warriors.
The Starry Three-Point Contest was headlined by Damian Lillard who was looking to win a third consecutive title in the competition but he was eliminated in the first round. Buddy Hield, Tyler Herro, and Darius Garland were the three finalists. Garland scored 19 points and Herro scored 24. Hield was the last competitor and scored 23, one short of Herro, who was crowned Three-Point Champion.
Another player looking for a three-peat was Mac McClung in the AT&T Dunk Contest. He earned two perfect scores on his dunks in the first round including one over a car and beat out Andre Jackson Jr. and Matas Buzelis to advance to the final against Stephon Castle. In the final, he earned two more 50s and dunked over Skills champ Evan Mobley to claim his third straight dunk contest win.
Sunday 16:
The 74th NBA All-Star Game was the final event of All-Star Weekend. It was held at Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors. The All-Star game featured a new mini-tournament format for 2025. Three NBA All-Star teams were drafted by Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley. The winning team from the Rising Stars tournament served as the fourth team in the All-Star bracket and was managed by Candace Parker. Charles’ “Global Stars” team faced off against Kenny’s “Young Stars” team in the first semifinal and won 41-32. Shaq’s “OGs” met Candace’s “Rising Stars” team in the second semifinal winning by a score of 42-35. Shaq’s “OGs” beat Charles’ “Global Stars” in the championship game 41-25. Stephen Curry made four three-pointers including one from half court and finished with 12 points. His performance earned him MVP in his home arena.
