The United States and Russia have had a grudge against each other for years. The grudge between the two nations led to various conflicts, the largest being the Cold War. There has always seemed to be a dislike towards Russia by various presidents of the U.S and vice versa. Yet nowadays it seems that our current president, Donald J. Trump, is favoring Russia. We see this mostly on X, where Trump praises Putin yet belittles Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy and calls him out.
So this begs the question: Is Trump favoring Russia? For me, I will say that Trump is favoring Russia. Why? Because he is helping Russia in various ways and bringing down Ukraine in the process. Trump always has something to say about Zelenskyy but never something about Putin. The man praises Putin all day long, yet shames Zelenskyy for trying to protect his country. This is seen when Zelenskyy visited the White House, and it became an elementary shouting match, mostly on Trump’s end. They also criticized Zelenskyy for not wearing a suit.
Even during talks to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to an end, they can never agree on anything because Trump will say something about Zelenskyy that will bring the talks to a harsh end. Although there has been a ceasefire for a while, which came to an end when Russia sent a missile to Kyiv, Trump posted on X criticizing Putin and calling him out on his wrongdoing, and finally favoring Zelenskyy. The only reason he didn’t shame him was because of what Putin did.
If the U.S. and Russia were to become allies, further conflicts and disagreements could be stopped between the two nations. However, no other country or nation could rival them because the U.S. and Russia are far too superior to be fought against. Both of these nations have a tremendous supply of weapons and even weapons of mass destruction.
An alliance is needed in a way, but I feel that it would cause more problems than solutions. What really is needed is peace between both nations, which is being accomplished little by little. The major thing is that Trump needs to learn to respect other people and their country. Countries and their leaders respect Trump mostly out of fear, but they still have respect towards Trump, yet the man doesn’t respect them. Now, does that sound like a good leader? When you come into a position of power, you have to respect people and their country because if you don’t, there won’t be any peace between the two nations.
It seems the U.S. will keep leaning towards our rival Nation more and more until something happens. Our President should also learn how to respect every nation and their leaders. If not, conflicts will continue between the U.S. and other nations.
