“Phineas and Ferb” are back with a new season after 10 years, and so is the hype. At the beginning of summer, on June 5, the first episode of the new season five was released on Disney Channel. On the following day, the first ten episodes of the 20 dropped on Disney+.

“Phineas and Ferb” is a cartoon about two brothers who invent something new each day, and their sister Candace attempts to bust them to their mother. The subplot is about their pet platypus, Perry, a secret agent, battling the “evil” Dr. Doofenschmirtz, who is trying to seize control of the Tri-State Area. The cartoon ran for about 8 years, debuting on August 17, 2007, and officially concluding on June 12, 2015.

Around the beginning of the show, songs were rarer and tended to be small 30-second snippets. However, they picked up quickly,  and soon each episode contained at least one song, averaging 1 1/2 minutes in length.

The show had its own top 10 ranking back in 2009 with the season two episode “Phineas and Ferb Musical Cliptastic Countdown,” where viewers voted for their favorite songs from season 1. Now, students of Logansport High School have voted for their favorite songs from all five seasons and both movies, 16 years later.

10. “Come Home Perry”

In the episode “Come Home Perry,” Perry is reassigned to a new villain, meaning he has to leave his home. Phineas and Ferb are distraught, as they’re used to his pet wandering away, but not him being absent in the mornings. They eventually sing for him from the top of a building downtown after a long search, and Perry returns at the end after launching his new enemy into jail.

9. “Summer (Where Do We Begin?)”

On August 5t, 2011, the movie “Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension” was released on Disney Channel. In the film, the boys help Dr. Doofenschmirtz create a “2nd Dimension-inator.” They get stuck in the second dimension and go to find their other selves for help returning home. Their doubles explain that summer was outlawed a long time ago in their dimension, and the original boys enlighten them on what summer is meant to be.

8. “Agent T (for Teen)”

In season four, Candace’s best friend Stacy discovers that Perry is a secret agent. In a new season 5 episode, “Agent T (for Teen),” Perry gets in extreme trouble with Doofenschmirtz and the rest of their evil organization, so Stacy comes to his rescue. The song is a parody of the original Perry the Platypus theme song, having the same instrumental but altered lyrics to fit Stacy’s character instead.

7. “There’s a Platypus Controlling Me”

In the episode “Brain Drain,”  Doofenschmirtz seizes control of Perry with a “De-Volition-Inator,” which is a remote controller connected to a helmet that he trapped Perry in. On the other hand, the boys and their friends are sick and stuck inside, so they decide to play a fighting game with each other online. A power surge connects all five of their controllers to Perry’s helmet, and they use it to defeat Doofenschmirtz, thinking it’s a secret level. The helmet is transferred from Perry to Doofenschmirtz, and Perry uses the control to make Doofenschmirtz a DJ at a party his daughter is attending.

6. “Everything’s Better with Perry”

“Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension” is heavily centered around Perry and his relationship with the boys. “Everything’s Better with Perry” is the opening song, giving reasons for how much fun it is to be with Perry and how the boys love him.

5. “A-G-L-E-T”

In the episode “Tip of the Day,” Phineas and Ferb’s dad is completing a crossword, and struggles to come up with the word for the tip of the shoelace. The boys go to research it and decide the aglet is an extremely important topic that the whole world needs to know about.

4. “Ain’t Got Rhythm”

In the season one special “Dude, We’re Getting the Band Back Together,” Phineas, Ferb, and Candace work together to reunite their parents’ favorite band Love Händel for their anniversary. “Ain’t Got Rhythm” is the song Sherman sings, describing how he can’t do the concert because he lost all sense of rhythm.

3. “Gitchee Gitchee Goo”

In the episode “Flop Starz,” Phineas and Ferb’s mom shares her story on one-hit wonders, as she’d been one herself back in the 80’s. The boys decide to form a band of their own named Phineas and the Ferbtones and create a pop song, “Gitchee Gitchee Goo,” which is an immediate hit.

2. “Busted”

In the episode “I Scream, You Scream,” Candace attempts, as normal, to bust her brothers, but Vanessa begins to spy on her dad and tries to bust Doofenschmirtz to her mom for being evil.

1. “S.I.M.P. Squirrels in My Pants”

In the episode “Comet Kermillian,” Candace goes on a date at the park with her crush, Jeremy, but his baby sister has to come along with him. Little Suzy has a vendetta against Candace and wants her gone because there’s “only room for one girl in Jeremy’s life.” After a few mean taunts, Suzy throws a nut down Candace’s jeans, and a couple of squirrels jump in after it. Street performers 2 Guys n the Parque think she’s being metaphorical and just busting a move, but they’re proven wrong when the squirrels escape from her jeans at the end of the song.
