Apple vs. Spotify is a huge debate in today’s world. While Apple has 98 million users, Spotify has 433 million. It is a debate that has made many very confident about their choices.

“Spotify is easily so much better than Apple Music in my opinion,” junior Omar Ruiz said. “Finding new music is something everyone enjoys, and it’s definitely something I do. The way Spotify is designed helps people, including me, discover new music a lot easier compared to Apple Music.”

Most people are willing to try new things even after being loyal for so long. Loyalty is something people take seriously.

“I would be willing to try Apple Music, but I would never ever make a switch. I know you do have to pay for Apple Music, but the only thing you have to pay for on Spotify is Premium, which is what I have. Premium is when you pay on Spotify so you don’t have to worry about advertisements while listening to music, which is worth it.”

Each app has its own features. However, sometimes users have to pay a price for higher-quality features. 

“One of the best features Spotify has is the files feature,” Ruiz said. “It allows you to listen to audio files you have downloaded, allowing you to listen to unreleased music that normally wouldn’t be found on a streaming platform. Overall, I just think Spotify is superior to Apple Music.”

Apple Music tends to be least likely chosen as a music listening option due to the monthly payments. When it is an option for some people, it’s something that they’ve had for a while. Although they may have to pay for Apple Music, a user can still listen to music ad-free and put on what vocals they want on or off during the song that is playing.

“Before streaming music was an option, I bought albums/songs on iTunes for years,” third-grade teacher Brittany Pearcy said. “With Apple Music, I have access to all of that content plus any additional content I wish to add. In that regard, it doesn’t make sense for me to pay for a different streaming music service.” 

Streaming your favorite artist all day may be some people’s way of relaxation or just what they enjoy doing. Even when a teacher can still listen to their favorite artist for personal use.

 “I love Apple Music for my personal use and would recommend it to others,” Pearcy said. “For teaching though, there are many places like YouTube where you can find what you need without a subscription. I mainly use it for myself, but occasionally I have students who eat lunch with me so that’s when I tend to put it on for them.”
