Graham Wins Girls February Magpie Athlete of the Month
Freshmen Audrey Graham recorded a standout performance last fall in the girls cross county season. Graham started the season running a time of 28:44 at the Jacob Graf Memorial then setting a personal best at the Culver Academies Invination with a time of 25:57. She concluded her freshman year season placing 51 at the IHSAA sectional with a time of 26:32.
In recognition of her fantastic achievements, Graham was awarded with the February Magpie Athlete of the Month, having been selected by staff and students.
“I’ve always been a really competitive person which is definitely the main reason I keep going,” Graham said. “Aside from wanting to win, however, track has always been something I really enjoyed, and joining cross country this year made me even more excited and involved.”
Graham credited her improvement to cross county season last fall.
“For my first year of cross country, I think I competed as well as I could,” Graham said. “While I wasn’t great, I had tons of fun and got a lot better as it went on, and I’m excited to get even better next season. Most of all, I loved seeing improvement throughout the season and meeting some of my, now, best friends.”
Graham hopes to see the same improvement in the upcoming track season this spring.
“So far this track season I’m already seeing tons of improvement compared to last year, and I think I owe a lot of that to cross country,” Graham said. “For our team in total, we’ve already seen tons of improvement and I’m excited to see how our season goes.”
