Getting involved is a big part of high school. Offered at Logansport High School is a variety of clubs that students can participate in.
“There are more than 30 clubs available at LHS, selecting a single favorite becomes quite a task,” Principal Matt Jones said. “Each club is vital to enriching our school community and allows students to explore their passions and interests.”
As the class of 2027 enters high school they are looking for activities to take part in. Previous freshmen have enjoyed getting involved around the school in clubs and sports.
“I am playing girls basketball and Safe Club,” sophomore Golda Kitchel said. “I have been playing basketball for years. I like basketball because the girls are so nice. The bus rides are so interesting.”
As upperclassmen have found their way into activities, many will find out what they like and dislike. As for freshmen, continuing previous activities is common.
“During my high school years, I am going to play softball,” freshman Makilynn Barton said. “I have played softball since I was a very young girl and have enjoyed it since.”
While staying in previous activities, branching out and taking advantage of various high school opportunities is equally important.
“I am a part of the Student Council and Spell Bowl,” freshman Michaela Hite said. “I continued Student Council from eighth grade because I enjoyed being a part of it. I am looking forward to joining the Dance Team and Swing Choir next year.”
There are many other extracurricular activities offered that some students may seem to forget. The arts and career-based clubs are also important to look into.
“I am involved in girls basketball,” freshman Savanah Mccall said. “I am, however, also in a club called FFA. The reason I am in this sport and club is because I have compassion for these things. I am interested in Magpie because it seems so fun and very welcoming for new people who are interested in it like me.”
Attending school functions is just as important as getting involved.
“My favorite part of the high school so far would probably be the football games,” Mccall said. “I really enjoy going to them and sitting in the student section and watching our home team play on Friday night lights.”
There is a lot to look forward to as a freshman with this upcoming year.
“I am excited about track,” freshman Alexander Ororio-Montero said. “I also have enjoyed fast Friday.”
