The wild card (wild card is when the lowest-seeded division winner players the lowest-seeded wild card team) rounds were a clean sweep. Every team that one swept the other with a 2-0 win in all wildcard round games. The Twins, Rangers, Diamondbacks, and Phillies all won in the wildcard round. They all advanced to the next round of the playoffs in just two games each winning their series.

The current defending World Series winner is still in the running. The Astros are the current defending champions and will play the Rangers in their Conference round.
