The 2023 Logansport Municipal Election Approaches

Municipal voting has officially begun for Logansport and many rush to get in their votes.
Every four years, in November, people vote for their choice in municipal elections. In Logansport, the date falls in 2023. The following election years will be 2027, 2031, 2035, and so on.

Nov. 7 is the set day for Logansport residents to vote for their 2023 candidates. The candidates on the ballot of the 2023 Logansport Municipal election are as follows:

When it comes to the mayors for the 2023 Logansport Municipal elections, Chris Martin, who is the incumbent, is going up against former mayor Dave Kitchell and Lonnie Keefer.

McHale Performing Arts Center hosted the 2023 Logansport Candidate Debate, which can be watched here.

The locations available for Logansport residents to vote are the Cass County Government building, the Logansport School Administration Building, and the McHale complex at Riverside Park.

Voting at the courthouse has expired, although, citizens can still still vote at the other two locations.

Voting at the Logansport School Administration Building is still available on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Voting at the McHale complex is still available on Tuesday, Nov. 7th from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All who vote for the 2023 municipal election will vote for mayor, clerk-treasurer, two common council at-large seats, and for your city council ward.

“Voting is important because even though it may be one vote, it’ll make a difference,” senior Casen Lake said. “It’s crucial for younger voices to vote because as older generations phase out or become out of touch with current affairs, we fall into line to take their spot to vote for our future.”

Logansport has a total of five wards. Voters are only eligible to vote in the ward they live in.

While it is too late to register to vote in this election, residents can still register by visiting a local county clerk’s office or by visiting indianavoters.in.gov for future elections.

Those elected will begin on Jan. 1, 2024.
