“Totally Killer” is a new slasher movie. This horror/comedy movie is a great pick if you are not too fond of horror. This new slasher has great cast members that include Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Charlie Gillespie and Julie Bowen. The main premise is that it has been thirty-five years since the shocking killing of three teens. The killer comes back to claim its fourth victim. The character of Jamie comes face-to-face with the killer, who makes Jamie accidentally time-travel back to 1987 when the first killings started happening. Forced to navigate an unfamiliar culture, Jamie now has to figure out a way to stop the killings that will end up killing her mom, Pam, in the future.
Off the bat, at the beginning of the movie, it shows how the three friends of Pam died. It shows pictures of the crime scene, and in the background, you hear someone explain it for a podcast. It was a really good way to show what happened without wasting time explaining what happened and not making it confusing.
At the beginning of the movie, you can see how the murders of Pam’s friends had really traumatized Jamie, making her have all these things to protect her just in case something happens. The fight scene in this movie shows the fact that Pam was literally prepared for everything. She had a gun under her table and dang can she fight. She was so close to surviving, it was very sad to see her die after she and Jamie had a fight.
The emotion that Kiernan Shipka gives when the sheriff asks where her dad is and if he could have been the killer is amazing. The movie does seem like it was moving fast, and it could make more sense, but other than that, the movie seems to be good. During the time-traveling scene, is really cool to see the killer going after her, and accidentally getting sent back to the first killing is a nice touch.
It is also funny how Jamie interacts with people after being sent back to 1987 with the cultural difference. She can do things there that would have happened in 2023. When she finds her mom, she is just someone to die for instead of this nice and sweet person and this mean popular girl. The kills are one of the coolest parts of this movie, including the fact that they change. The place and order of how victims die are different, which is really a good touch to show how Jamie is changing the past. Now, the killer reveal is so good because it is someone you didn’t even suspect.
The movie does a really good job of explaining what happens after she goes back to 2023 and makes it easy to understand. The movie could have been a little longer and had more exposition, but overall was a fun and interesting movie.
