It’s finally that time of the year again when, somehow, non-Halloween movies become popular. Twilight is one of those. Usually, with vampires and werewolves, you’d think this is the typical spooky case of blood-sucking and howling at a moon. However, this case is way deeper. The Twilight Saga is a series of five movies that are around two hours long each. The Twilight Saga had a book series first, but some things are different within the movies.
When people hear of werewolves and vampires, they automatically assume it’s a horror movie. With how popular Twilight is, most already know the series is considered a romance drama. There are some themes of horror every now and then, but it mainly focuses on a messy relationship between a human girl named Bella Swan, a vampire named Edward Cullen and a werewolf named Jacob Black.
The main question that’s been floating around for years is, “Team Jacob, or Team Edward?” Obviously, at the end of the movie series, Bella gets with Edward due to the book series ending that way. Jacob wasn’t an option to Bella, but for her daughter, Renesmee. It gets pretty weird.
Even after the whole series, some viewers are still upset about who she ended up with and want Jacob to be her love interest.
Multiple fans within LHS have come forward to choose what team they say would have been better and explain their reasoning behind it. Sophomore Miracle Castillo says that she’d choose team Jacob.
“If I were able to choose who Bella ended up with, I’d have to say Jacob. Because you have a semi-normal life, and technically don’t live forever.” Castillo said, “Since she chose Edward she now is immortal and has to witness many years of deaths, which means friends and family, I personally wouldn’t be able to bear that.”
Junior Karlie Heuer chose team Edward.
“Bella and Edward have better chemistry in general throughout the movies.” Heuer said, “Overall, the forbidden and rebellious aspects of him make him more attractive. Not to mention I just like how their relationship came about within the series.”
Junior Allie Robinson picks team Jacob.
“The reason behind my choice is that Bella wouldn’t have to quite literally sign her life away.” Robinson said, “She had to be bitten, which is considered extremely painful, and now lives a cold life. With Jacob, you have someone to hold at night that is warm during freezing temperatures and necessarily wouldn’t have had to change.”
Science teacher Laura Karnafel leaned towards team Edward.
“I was drawn to his character from the beginning,” Karnafel said. “Through the series he had tried to hold in his emotions, and then was intense with his feelings towards Bella. He was also just mysterious and less whiny.”
Some people have even included the opinion that neither team was the right choice for Bella. Both Edward and Jacob are seen as too dramatic, maybe even guilt-tripping. On one hand, Jacob doesn’t seem to want to give up on Bella. He forcefully kisses her to prove a point. Edward, on the other hand, has never pressured her nor forced her to do anything like that.
A lot of viewers seemed to even blame Bella, saying she was the issue and she made everything too dramatic. Sophomore Jay Denham is on neither side.
“I believe Jacob should have gotten into a relationship with Edward.” Denham said, “Honestly they should have just ditched Bella because almost half of the problems are because of her.”
