Book lovers, whether they’re short stories, picture books, or chapter books, as well as different genres like fantasy, horror, or romance, have a place to read about their interests.

Logansport Cass County Public Library, located at 616 East Broadway, is the place to find them. The library offers a wide variety of different things for people, ranging from books to music CDs to movies.

“The book collection is arranged in many categories,” Director David Ivey said. “The largest groupings would be audience, such as children, young adult, and adult. Each of these areas would include fiction and nonfiction books.”

That’s not all the library offers. There are many different events the library hosts for children and adults each month.

“Library-sponsored programs include the children’s summer reading programs with events and games, toddler story times, Lego clubs, and home school programs,” Ivey said. “Library-sponsored adult programs include music performances and author talks.”

Sometimes, the library can be a place where people make memories.

“My best memory in the library was made with Alette Woodhouse,” freshman Visha Patel said. “We both spent five hours there trying to make posters for our class officer campaign.”

Patel and Woodhouse spent those hours together trying to figure out the printer, eating food, and having fun.

“That was lowkey the best pink lemonade I’ve had in my entire life,” Patel said.

Memories can be made with the people you love or the club you love.

“My best memory was when our Battle of the Books team got our third dub for the third year in a row,” freshman Emma Rogers said.

Along with fun memories, the library is also a place where a person can find their favorite genre.

“It isn’t very easy, but fantasy romance or young adult are good genres and have outstanding authors who make in-depth books,” Rogers said.

Going to the library can be nice and relaxing, helping people get away from the stress.

“I go to the library once a month,” Patel said. “Usually, I would visit more often, but I can’t due to school and the amount of work we receive.”

Even if someone is unable to visit the library in person, there is always another way to find books, music, and movies.

“The easiest way to access digital library materials from your home or anywhere is through the library’s website or using the library’s Libby (Overdrive) digital content app,” Ivey said. “Digital versions of print books or audiobooks are available for download and two-week loan periods at Logansport Cass County Public Library Overdrive.”

Some people visit the library their whole lives, while others might have started visiting recently.

“I’ve been going to the library since I was five,” Rogers said. “So, a decade.”
