Last year marked the end of Matt Jones’ career as principal at the high school. This year, Michael Miller has taken the position of principal. Miller has been in administrative positions in other district schools, while Jones has been the principal of the LHS since 2011. Many students adored Jones for his character and dedication to the school, while Miller has remained relatively anonymous to the newer student body, as he was only recently introduced to the school last year.
Miller was previously the principal of Franklin Elementary and the assistant principal at what was formerly known as Lincoln Middle School.
An episode of The Felix Frame included a segment with the recent interview of Principal Miller in his new position.
“I got my first administrative position at what was then known as Lincoln Middle School, at that time, now our Junior High School, for three years there as the assistant principal,” Miller said. “I moved into my first principal role at Franklin Elementary. I was there for six years, then went to the intermediate school, the sixth-grade academy for two years, before coming up here to Logansport High School last year.”
Miller is asked about his first week as the principal and how he feels about the beginning of the new school year with new students joining the community.
“I’m always excited about the start of the year, just getting students and staff back into the building,” Miller said. “Welcoming them back in. Just the excitement of seeing everybody again after summer, and new schedules, and getting into a routine of things, too.”
In the interview, Miller is asked about the introduction of parking passes and other plans that have been put into effect.
“Those efforts have been in the works since last year, I’ve been very fortunate of being in the associate principal role last year and see the operational side of Logansport High School and work with Mr. Jones and our administration team and teachers, so that’s been something we’ve been considering over the course of last year and into this summer to really promote the safety of our students,” Miller said. “Some other things we’ve been looking at and talking with our class officers are in relation to food services and some menu options we’ve discussed at the beginning of the year with our kick-off meetings.”
