On Saturday, Oct. 4, Bonus Pints held their fourth annual Emo Night. Several businesses in town set up shop with tents, while a few emo bands performed on the stage throughout the evening. Some eventgoers came dressed up in full emo garb to embrace the spirit of the event.

Brandi Rude, a vendor on behalf of Black Dog Coffee, found the event to be a great business opportunity.

“I think that this is a great opportunity for all these businesses to be selling, and for ours as well,” Rude said. “It gives us time to actually show people because some people might not have heard of Black Dog or know anything about it or any of these other businesses. Coming here and walking around, they’re able to take the opportunity and be able to check out what all we have in store for them. I feel like it really ups the business.”

Several others found it to be a great environment for everyone, regardless of what they came for.

“There’s such a variety here,” Michelle Sutton, a vendor for Mirachi Art studio, said. “You’ve got all ages. You’ve got all different backgrounds, and everybody comes here to have a great time. Plus, there’s great food and great drinks.”

Emo Night isn’t just a place for emos to come and find each other; it’s meant to be a place of community for everyone.

“I love the music,” LHS graduate Warren Edge said. “I love the scene. I love the feeling of community. You ain’t gotta be emo. You just gotta love the music.”

Senior Dominique Zamora thought the event was a great place to meet more people similar to himself.

“You can hang out with your friends or meet a bunch of new people,” Zamora said. “Especially being alternative here in a small town, I don’t really see people that look like me with piercings and whatnot, or are more expressive like that, and stand out. It’s definitely a great place to see people like that.”
