Review: Scooter’s Coffee…Better Than Starbucks?

Gretchen Prifogle

Scooter’s is at 3225 East Market Street at the former location of Maxx Tan.

Scooter’s Coffee has been very popular ever since it opened its doors on August 29th, 2022. They’ve had a lot of customers and have been very successful. I tried five of their most popular things at Scooter’s.

A very popular drink from Scooter’s during the fall season is the Pumpkin Caramelicious Latte. (Isabella Lucero)

The first thing I tried was the “Pumpkin Caramelicious Latte” frozen. It was like a frappuccino since it was blended and the toppings were good. The toppings were whipped cream, some sort of pumpkin flavoring, and pumpkin spice. Overall the flavors were pretty good and I give it a 9/10.

The next item I tried was the “Spicy Sausage Breakfast Burrito.” First of all, if you don’t like spicy things, then this burrito is probably not for you. It came with a medium sauce packet which is a plus. It was decent but the sauce made it better. The only thing is that the eggs were soggy and without the sauce, it was a little bland. I give it a 5/10.

A very popular item there is the “Caramelicious Latte.” You can get any coffee from there frozen, iced, or hot. I got the iced one. Honestly, the flavors were pretty good and most of their drinks come with whipped cream but you can ask for none if you don’t want any. I got the whipped cream and it had caramel drizzle on top. I felt like there were some flavors missing though, so I would give it a 7.5/10. I think it would have been better if I had gotten the blended version.

The next breakfast food item is the “Bagel Breakfast Sandwich.” It was just pretty average and there was nothing special about it. The bagel part itself was good but the eggs were once again a little soggy. The sausage was okay though. I would rate this sandwich a 7/10.

The “Spicy Sausage Breakfast Burrito” wasn’t all that good. (Isabella Lucero)

Last but not least, I tried the “Strawberry Banana Smoothie.” This one was very good and had a smooth texture. It wasn’t watered down at all and was thick. It also came with whipped cream. I would give this an 8/10. Overall, their smoothies are pretty good from there. I would definitely get this again in a different flavor.

Now onto the best and worst thing that I tried from there. The best thing that I tried from there was the “Pumpkin Caramelicious Latte”

frozen. I didn’t expect the flavors to work together as well as they did. Who would have thought that pumpkin and caramel are good together in a drink? The worst thing I tried at Scooter’s was the “Spicy Sausage Breakfast Burrito.” I don’t recommend this because the eggs are soggy like they’ve been heated up in a microwave and they don’t always come with the sauce packets.

I would recommend this place, with the exception of the burrito of course. I would definitely get the smoothies there again and the blended drinks.  Overall, I would rate Scooter’s a 3.8/5. I wouldn’t put Scooter’s Coffee ahead of Starbucks though. Starbucks is still superior in my opinion.
