The Anoaʻi family, known as the Bloodline, stands as one of the most formidable wrestling dynasties in history. Famous for producing champions, iconic tag teams and some of the most celebrated superstars in the wrestling world, the promotion traces its legacy back to the 1970s. It remains impactful in today’s WWE main events.

Afa Anoaʻi (1942–2024) was one of the earliest family members to gain global fame. He fought with his brother Sika Anoaʻi to form the tag team called The Wild Samoans, which won the World Wrestling Federation tag team championship on three occasions. Afa married Elaine Anoaʻi and significantly contributed to promoting Samoan wrestling culture to fans around the globe. Beyond his in-ring career, Afa trained many future wrestlers, including his son Afa Anoaʻi Jr., who carried on the family tradition in professional wrestling.

Sika Anoaʻi (1945–2024) was the brother of Afa and the father of Roman Reigns and Rosey. He also married Patricia Anoaʻi, making a legendary reputation in wrestling and paving the way for future generations of the family.

Rikishi, Sika’s nephew, came to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He began his wrestling career as part of the tag team known as The Headshrinkers alongside his cousin Samu, and later became a member of Too Cool, where he gained popularity for his dancing and friendly demeanor with fans. Rikishi is married to Talisua Fuavai-Fatu and is the father of Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa, all of whom are currently active wrestlers in WWE.

Umaga (1973–2009), Rikishi’s brother, was renowned for his powerful and destructive wrestling style. He captivated audiences with his commanding presence in the ring. Umaga was also the uncle of Jey, Jimmy and Solo. Sadly, he died in 2009 from a heart attack linked to heart disease and substance abuse issues.

Rosey (1970–2017), Sika’s son and Roman Reigns’ brother, partnered with Umaga in a faction called 3-Minute Warning. Fans adored Rosey for his athletic abilities and comedic personality. He died in 2017 from heart failure.

The Rock is the grandson of Peter Maivia (1937–1982) and the son of Rocky Johnson (1944–2020). He is recognized as part of the extended Bloodline through a traditional Samoan “blood brother” bond. The Rock became one of the most significant stars in wrestling history and later transitioned into a successful acting career. He is married to Lauren Hashian and has daughters, including Ava Raine, who is paving the way for the next generation of wrestlers.

Roman Reigns, the son of Sika, stands as the head of the contemporary Bloodline. He gained fame as a member of The Shield and subsequently took the helm of the WWE faction known as The Bloodline. Reigns is married to Galina Becker and is backed by his cousins Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso, who are twin brothers and part of one of WWE’s most successful tag teams. Another cousin, Solo Sikoa, also competes in WWE, contributing to the family’s strong presence in the wrestling world.

Jey Uso is Rikishi’s son and the twin of Jimmy. Together, they form The Usos, a renowned WWE tag team. Jey is married to Takecia Travis. Jimmy Uso is also the son of Rikishi and Jey’s twin. He is married to WWE wrestler Naomi. Solo Sikoa is the youngest son of Rikishi. He joined his brother and cousins in WWE to carry on the family’s legacy.

The family’s reach continues through other members as well. Lance Anoaʻi, the son of Samu, has competed in various wrestling promotions and represents the next generation of the Anoaʻi name. Lloyd Anoaʻi has also contributed to the family’s wrestling tradition, particularly through training and development. Tamina, the daughter of Jimmy Snuka and part of the extended family, has made a name for herself in WWE’s women’s division, while Nia Jax, a cousin to Roman Reigns, has also become a dominant force in WWE with championship success.

Jacob Fatu, the son of Sam Fatu, has emerged as a significant star in independent wrestling, representing another branch of the Bloodline. Continuing that branch, Zilla Fatu, the son of Umaga, has begun to step into the wrestling world, showing promise in carrying forward his father’s legacy. The Bloodline is also connected to other wrestling families from the Pacific Islands, such as the Tongan family led by Haku and his sons Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Hikuleo. These families have made a tremendous impact on wrestling globally.

Throughout the years, many key figures from this dynasty have died, including Peter Maivia in 1982, Yokozuna in 2000, Umaga in 2009, Rosey in 2017, Rocky Johnson in 2020 and both Afa Anoaʻi and Sika Anoaʻi in 2024. Although they are no longer with us, the family’s legacy continues through the wrestlers who remain active today. The Anoaʻi family is among the most celebrated wrestling dynasties in history. From The Wild Samoans to the current Bloodline in WWE, their influence on professional wrestling is truly unparalleled.
