Fans have all grown up watching all the Spider-Man movies, and each has their favorite Peter Parker: Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, or Tom Holland. But of the three of them, who is the best?

Many say that Maguire is the best one because he’s the original and is the one who started the live-action feature films. Others say it’s Andrew Garfield because he’s the hottest of all of them and because of the love story he had with Gwen is more like the teen love fans want to romanticize. As for Holland, many others see him more as Spider-Man because they see him with other superheroes like Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Captain America, and Black Panther. When asked, one of the things people like about this new Spider-Man is the chemistry with Peter and MJ. Spider-Man lovers like MJ’s and Peter’s relationship because it’s also based on their real-life friendship.

When Tom Holland became Spider-Man, there were not many changes as to how he becomes the hero he is. He meets two friends along his journey, MJ and Ned. After Ned and MJ figure out that Peter is Spider-Man, they help him save the world. Just like the other two Peter Parker’s, he also has his lover MJ, and she is also there fighting along with him.

“In my opinion, I think that Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man because he is really good at playing Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Andrew was amazing playing Spider-Man, and Toby played Peter Parker. But, Tom played Spiderman and Peter so well. It fits him perfectly and makes it more realistic than Tobey and Andrew,” senior Lacey Ogle said.

Maguire was one of the first Spider-Men. His Peter Parker became an orphan after his parents died and later moved to Queens, New York with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Growing up, he was bullied at school. He also began to have a crush on Mary Jane, his next-door neighbor. In a day as normal, it can be Peter getting bitten by a spider but little did he know that spider was a radioactive spider. As the result of the spider bite, he notices his body has started to act differently. He starts to gain superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to climb walls. All three Spider-Mans have a similar back story. Although, Holland’s Uncle Ben is not present, and the audience never sees his origin story.

“I like all the Spider-Mans for different reasons, but I think that Toby is the best because he’s the original, and I think that he just does the best job representing who Spider-Man is, being corky and discovering all of the new stuff that comes with it,” math teacher Erica Plutat said.

All of the Spider-Man movies are popular, but depending on who you ask, fans all have a favorite Peter Parker. They all become Spider-Man the same way but the experience after that are way different, and fans can see how they figure out how to live with such a big secret.

“All of them brought something special to the role. Maguire established the role in the films, showing that Spider-Man and superhero movies could work as live action movies. His Peter Parker really got the struggle right between Peter’s personal and superhero lives. Garfield’s Peter Parker was full of untapped potential. He really started to explore the darker side of being Spider-Man, but just never got the chance to finish his run. Holland really perfected the young, teenage origin of the character. They may have similar origins, but all three actors found unique versions of Spider-Man,” English teacher Chris Pearcy said.
