Swimming in the fly event, senior Connor Shannon competes against Culver Academies.

The boys swim team had their first meet of the season on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Connor Shannon won first place in the 200 IM and Jacob Fincher won first place in the 100 Butterfly.

With the win, Fincher beat his own previous record with his first-place finish. However, winning isn’t always the first thing on the competitors’ minds.

“I look at myself as my biggest competitor, so beating my own record felt a lot better than beating another swimmer,” Fincher said.

The second-place finishers included EJ Brinknell, Connor Shannon, Jacob Fincher, and Scott Loman in the 200 Medley Relay Team, as well as Loman in the 200 Free and 500 Free, Fincher in the 50 Free, Shannon in the 100 Breast, and the 400 Free Relay Team (Fincher, Jacob Morrow, Loman, Shannon).

“I was really excited to be able to compete again,” Loman said.
