Photo Gallery: Paying Homage to Hispanic Heritage

The art gallery holds many Hispanic student-made works
Loteria is a game held close by the Hispanic community. It resembles American Bingo, but instead of numbers, there are pictures, and instead of daubers, beans are used. Depending on where the game is played, the card reader can call out the title on the card or say a small poem. For example, for the “El Borracho (The Drunkard)” card, the saying is “A que borracho tan necio ya no lo puedo aguantar,” which translates to That annoying drunkard that I cannot stand anymore.

From Sep. 15 to Oct. 15, Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated nationwide. The art gallery is one of the many ways Hispanic representation is displayed in the school.
