Saturday, Jan. 10 marked the Logansport High School Girls Wrestling team’s regionals, the deciding tournament in which local female wrestlers would advance to the IHSAA State Tournament. The tournament was held at Kokomo High School. After a series of match-ups featuring athletes from surrounding schools, two LHS athletes were selected to advance to the State Tournament, sophomore Aleyah Kinder and senior Olivia Gibson.
Kinder held a 26 wins to 4 losses record throughout the 2025-2026 season. She competed in the 105-pound weight division at the State Championship.
“I’m very proud of how far everyone has come,” Kinder said.
This sentiment between the sophomore and her teammates was mutual.
“I feel like they’ve [Kinder’s teammates] all supported me through it,” Kinder said. “They’ve all lifted me up and made me feel like I’m accomplishing big goals.”
Gibson had previously competed at the state level in 2025, where she was supported virtually by her teammates.
“Last year, they [Gibson’s teammates] definitely did even if they couldn’t make it to the meet,” Gibson said. “They still went online and watched me online all day.”
Gibson earned her way to the State Championship in a four-minute match against Riley Deel from Fountain Central High School. The LHS senior held a 37 wins to 2 losses record prior to the state round.
On Thursday, Jan. 15, the LHS student body gathered in the hallways of the school to congratulate Kinder and Gibson on their advancement to the State Championship, a LHS tradition known as the “State Send-off.” The two athletes were accompanied by their teammates during this celebration.

The State Championship was held inside the Corteva Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis on Friday, Jan. 16. Kinder and Gibson both attended and represented LHS. Competing in the 130-pound weight division, Gibson placed 4th place overall in her respective class. This victory concluded her senior wrestling season.
On Saturday, January 24, the Indiana High School Girls Wrestling Coaches’ Association (IHSGWCA) hosted the Girls Wrestling Team State Duels. The LHS Girls Wrestling team participated in the sporting event alongside Kinder and Gibson. Out of the top 12 teams in Indiana, the LHS Girls Wrestling team placed 5th, finishing off a successful season for not only Kinder and Gibson but also their supportive teammates.
