“Legally Blonde: The Musical” was shown at the McHale Auditorium on Nov. 21, 22, and 23. The musical was performed by LHS students after school and during IMPACT on the Friday of the performance. The musical focused on a fashion-obsessed, stereotypical popular blonde girl named Elle Woods who experiences heartbreak, played by junior Ellison Kitchell. Her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, was played by junior Cooper Prifogle. Freshman Jaxson Zimmerman played the Harvard Law admissions officer and Nikos Argitakos.

The star of the performance, Kitchell, turns from a stereotypical blonde sorority girl into a savvy lawyer.

“I loved this production,” Kitchel said. “My cast mates were fantastic to work with, and this has for sure been my favorite group to work with, including the directors. Playing Elle Woods was a dream come true, and I could not have asked for a better show to start my time here at LHS.”

Kitchell heavily encourages other students to participate in theater and the upcoming Junior Civics Theater show.

“During my eighth-grade year, I joined my school play on a whim and fell in love with theater,” Kitchell said. “Being a performer is how I wish to spend my future, and I never would have discovered that if I had not taken a chance on theater. You only live once, so live your life to its fullest extent.”

Prifogle enjoyed playing Warner and spending time with his closest friends, also encouraging others to take part and try out.

“I would tell them to just go for it,” Prifogle said, “It can be so terrifying to get on a stage to say your lines, sing, and dance, but in the end it is worth every bit of effort that you put into your character and just the show in general.”

Zimmerman played two roles in the show: Nikos Argitakos, a witness in the trial, and Winthrop, a Harvard admissions officer.

“I enjoyed the show very much, it was a very fun show to perform and one of the favorites I’ve done,” Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman, too, encouraged others to participate in theater.

“I’d say just do it,” Zimmerman said. “Theater is such a fun experience that I’m sure any student could enjoy.”
