Spring began on Mar. 20, and although the change wasn’t immediate, Logansport has had a steady rise in temperature, plant life and animal activity. The chill can still be felt in the air, but the frigid cold has since dispersed. The local flora and fauna, along with the animals, have begun to take root as the first to bloom and mate. Ecosystems are building upon themselves, establishing a cycle and discovering their place within the natural world as Mother Nature awakens from her slumber.
The Great Blue Heron is a wading bird distinguished by its blue-gray feathers and its capacity to remain still while searching shallow water for prey. To hunt fish and other small aquatic animals, they frequently wade slowly through the water or remain still for extended periods. These big birds have a sharp beak, a long S-shaped neck and long legs. They are often found in wetlands, rivers and coastal areas.
